Learning English in a new way

Children learn through play and get excited by what feels familiar. By combining new creative techniques, the heritage of Cardedeu and stories from Catalunya, the children will feel passionate and excited about learning English in a new way that bridges both worlds.

Paper: Explore the original photographic process using plants.

Fabric: Bring in an object to print on in the sun

Printing

Lino carving: Learn how to use soft and hard lino for hand printing - inspired by modernist buildings

Printing from re-used material- we’ll explore how different textures work

Weaving

Introduction to weaving loom - inspired by the colours found in Cardedeu.

Sample Schedule: Sun Prints for Kids

  • The kids explore the local park or find green spaces - they can also bring something from home like textiles.

  • This is a chance to learn new words like format, types of plants, transparency or squash and clip. The activity offers a chance to explore new vocabulary in a practical way.

  • While they wait for the chemistry to react. We will talk about the history of the process and older children can try the wet version to see the process from the beginning.

  • We develop the pieces and watch the magic happen as we add hydrogen peroxide and wash with vinager to get the blue and white shapes.
